Accident insurance
Statutory accident insurance law can be found in the Social Security Code, book 7. Its function is to prevent work accidents and trade diseases or in case of damage compensate the person injured or the bereaved.
Work accidents are insurant’s accidents caused by an insured job. Insured jobs for employees are the job itself, for children it is kindergarten or school attendance. Also the way to work/school and the way back home are insured. Hence, if the insurant has an accident on his way to work it is viewed as a work accident as well.
Trade diseases are diseases, under which employees suffer as a result of their work. The disease has to be caused by job specific exposures.
Relevant for estimating a trade disease is the trade disease order.
