Employment permit

Since 2004 employment promotion and the right of residence are centralized in the Residence Act. A standardized approval process was established: While in earlier days you had to get permission for residence and employment, nowadays it is sufficient to propose a motion at the appropriate Aliens Department.

The question whether there is an employment permit for people from Third World countries which live in Germany depends on the residence title’s form. Some titles (e.g. stay for the purposes of academic studies) provide for an employment rule. In individual cases aberration can be requested. If the residence title doesn’t regulate this case and the title wasn’t given for the purposes of employment, government agencies can issue an employment permit under several circumstances and their ones judgement.

General provision is that aliens can get an employment not until it is explicitly permitted.

Citizens from Third World countries living abroad can apply for an employment permit. But remember that a concrete job offer has to be existent.
